    The Philippines-Korea Economic Council, Inc. (P HILKOREC) is a non-stock, non-profit corporation organized under Philippine laws in June 1978 under the auspices of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) to promote mutually beneficial business opportunities and enterprise as well as fellowship between the Republics of the Philippines and South Korea.
In 2003, to coincide with the Philippines President State Visit to South Korea, the Korean counterpart of PHILKOREC was institutionalized with the name Korea-Philippines Economic Council (KORPHILEC). Its last joint activity was the 21st Joint Meeting held in Manila on 15 December 2005. 
The objectives of PHILKOREC are as follows: 
1. To promote, in general, goodwill, friendship, and understanding between the business communities of the Philippines and South Korea, and in particular, to establish closer cooperation in areas which will enhance the growth and development of the Philippines. 
2. To promote and strengthen trade, tourism, and economic cooperation between the Philippines and Korea. 
3. To establish and maintain channels of communication with its counterparts in Korea and with other agencies and organizations involved in, or concerned with, the promotion of Philippine-Korean economic relations. 
4. To organize or promote missions, whether trade or economic, and arrange receptions of visitors when considered proper and appropriate.

At present, membership in PHILKOREC is open to CEOs, CFOs, and other senior officers of Philippine companies doing business with Korean companies. Member companies are primarily manufacturing and service organizations in the fields of agribusiness, import and export, consumer goods, auto parts servicing and manufacturing, consumer goods, durable equipment, educational services, metro rail, insurance, hotels and leisure, security services, steel manufacturing, construction, maintenance works, and other sectors.

The Korea Connection Among others, PHILKOREC members receive monthly a copy of The Korea Connection, an e-newsletter containing current events and business news in Korea and in the Philippines which may be of interest to Philippine business persons doing business with their counterparts in Korea. As well, activities such as trade shows, economic symposia, and business missions are facilitated through the auspices of KOTRA, KCCP, PCCI, and related associations and organizations. 
The First Philippines-Korea Friendship Golf Tournament This year, PHILKOREC and KCCP jointly host the First Philippine-Korea Friendship Golf Tournament on 10 November 2010 at The Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club. Attracting over 100 Korean and Philippine golfers from business, trade, and industry, the ceremonial tee-off is through the courtesy of former President Fidel V. Ramos, who served at the Korean War. The Award Ceremonies are being graced by the presence of Ambassador Lee Hye-min, who shall offer the evening’s congratulatory remarks to the day’s winners.
